An Interview with Rxy7
This week we spoke with German music producers and remix competition winners RXY7.
Where are you based?
We´re from Germany. Dresden, to be more precise.
What is your musical setup?
We mainly use Mac Pro 8Core, Mac Book Pro, 2xPC Dual Core, UAD-2 Card, M-Audio Studiophile BX5a Deluxe,M-Audio Oxygen v8 and MidiTech Keyboard.
What programs/equipment do you use and why?
For a couple of years now, we have been using Logic as DAW, because it´s the program which suits us the best. We also use plugins like ReFX Nexus, Vanguard, V-Station, NI Battery, Sylenth1 as well asES2 and EXS24. For effects and revision we prefer the internals from Logic and the UAD plugins because of their sound quality. The editor program we use is Steinbergs Wavelab.
How long have you been producing music for?
We started in 1996.
What first got you into music?
The rave music scene in the early 90s but also rock and pop bands at the end of the 80s.
What are your favourite artists / influences?
There is no one in particular, because we like to listen to a large variety of music and styles. But artists such as Marcus Schossow, Nifra, Sander van Doorn, Stoneface and Terminal and Arty have certainly been a source of inspiration for us in the trance genre.
What is your biggest success so far musically?
Our biggest success was being published on several labels and compilations, such as Warped Sience, Evolution Records, Acid Kandee, Bonkers ... and also in the UK Hardcore genre, which was our musical origin.
What are your future plans/ambitions?
Usually we don´t make too much of a plan when we start working on a project because we like the element of surprise and the usually very interesting results that come with it.
What other projects are you working on at the moment?
We are back to working on our UK hardcore project, Ultravibes.
What attracted you to remix Never Gonna Fall?
We were inspired by the vocal. It already created the basic idea for the final result when listening to the clips.
